A recent article from the Council on Aging talks about how today seniors are living longer and the current shortage of jobs is causing many boomers to start new businesses. As a reverse mortgage originator, staying in contact with this new group of entrepreneurs should be on your must to do list.
A recent new study by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation shows that baby boomers are taking a leading postion as being one of the most active entrepreneurial demographic in the past decade, and will help drive U.S. economic recovery.
“The Coming Entrepreneurship Boom” identifies four factors contributing to this phenomenon:
- Shifting age distribution of the country
- Continued decline of lifetime employment
- Experience and tacit knowledge of older employees
- Effects of the 2008-2009 recession on established sectors of the economy
Not only are boomers starting new business but they are instrumental in mentoring younger entrepreneurs to achieve success.
